Do I have to register with Habitat STW prior to going to the job site?

Yes, we ask that all volunteers register prior to volunteering in the ReStore and on the construction site. This helps our staff plan the day's work! To register for a volunteer day please click here and follow the prompts.

Do I have to have previous construction experience?

No, our skilled construction crew and ReStore employees will work alongside you, guiding you through the day's tasks. We only ask that volunteers be open to learning new skills!

Is water provided on site?

Yes, we have jugs of water on site and in the ReStore. We ask that you bring a water bottle that can be filled.

Do I have to be on the construction site at 8:30 am?

Yes! Our construction sites open at 8:30. All volunteers must be there ready to go at that time because the day starts with a mandatory safety orientation and assignment of jobs.

What is the address to my volunteer site?

Construction: When you sign up for your volunteer day, you may not be given as exact address. Don't worry! You will be emailed a site address two days before your scheduled volunteer day.

ReStore: You will always be volunteering at 1400 North Lane, Mandeville LA 70471. The ReStore is located on Highway 59 behind the Prieto Fire Station.

What should I wear?

Closed-toe tennis shoes or boots are required. Clothes you don't mind getting dirty are strongly encouraged. Long pants are suggested for safety. Please avoid wearing jewelry, because it can easily get damaged or lost. When working on our construction site please take weather into consideration as you will be working outside!

What should I bring?

Whether you are volunteering in the ReStore or on the construction site please bring a water bottle, we will have water on location. All tools and personal protective equipment are supplied. If you wish to bring your own tools or PPE please be sure to label everything. If you are volunteering all day remember to bring lunch and a snack with you.

All volunteers need to be on site to start the day at 8:30 am. If you have to leave at a time other than 3:30 pm we ask that you let your construction supervisor know in the morning.
