Women Build

Women Build is an annual project in which Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West empowers women, without excluding men, to build homes, enabling them to positively impact the lives of families by making home ownership a reality. In 2018, over 375 volunteers contributed over 2,250 volunteer hours during October to help build the Payne Family home in Covington.

Women possess all that's needed to create dramatic change in our community. From volunteering to donating, there are many ways to contribute to the success of this program:

W.A.T.C.H. is a group of dedicated ladies who ensure Women Build continues to thrive in western St. Tammany. It began in 2009 when a group of women accepted the challenge by pledging $1,000 a year. In recognition and appreciation of their support, members wear a hand-crafted glass lapel pin created by Carol Lapari designs. In 2018, W.A.T.C.H. women donated $65,000 toward building safe, affordable housing.
Daina Short and Ellie Merrick are co-chairs for Women Build 2019 Committee. Daina and Ellie will work together with the committee to lead the way as we begin to recruit our sponsors, volunteers and will lead the planning for Hammers and Heels, a Maison Lafitte Fashion Show benefitting Women Build. They will also work together to keep current W.A.T.C.H members up to date on all of our socials and events, as well as recruiting people that would like to host a W.A.T.C.H social.

Download the 2019 W.A.T.C.H. sign up form here. If you have any questions please contact contact Leighanne Weeks via email or phone at (985) 893-3172 ext 244 for more information.
